ZKW Electronics extends Wiener Neustadt site

ZKW expands its Wiener Neustadt location and officially opens the new office building

The ZKW Group’s electronics plant in Wiener Neustadt saw the successful completion of its new office building, constructed with an area of 3,500m2. The company is now offering jobs to both existing and new highly-qualified employees in the division of hardware and software development. The official opening ceremony took place at ZKW Electronics on the 8th February 2018.

Wiener Neustadt, 08.02.2018. After planning permission was granted, the excavation work for the additional office building in Wiener Neustadt began on 12th December 2016. Thanks to the exemplary progress of construction works, the new build was completed as scheduled in October 2017.

On Thursday 8th February 2018, various political, economic and press representatives from Lower Austria were present at the grand opening in Wiener Neustadt. Minister for Economic Affairs within the Provincial Government of Lower Austria, Petra Bohuslav, took part in the opening ceremony. In her official speech, she praised the continual expansion of ZKW as well as the outstanding quality of Lower Austria as an economic location: “A traditional company like ZKW, which has conquered the world from two locations in Lower Austria, is the best possible ambassador for our region as an industrial location. That ZKW has consistently expanded its subsidiary company in Wiener Neustadt speaks volumes, as it not only proves the quality of the location, it is also a recognition of our work and provides a great incentive for the future. I wish the ZKW Electronics GmbH every success for the future of their Wiener Neustadt location!”

ZKW Wiener Neustadt is a competence centre for electronic engineering

In the wake of the strong growth in the market for LED headlights and the increasing role of electronics within lighting systems, ZKW is also developing and manufacturing electronic modules for automobile lighting systems. In the process, ZKW is evolving from a systems integrator into a systems manufacturer with an independent and competitive organisation active on the lighting electronics market. The aim of the competence centre for electronic engineering in Wiener Neustadt is to heighten the added value of electronics, and to increase the level of expertise as well as the proportion of personal contributions within the development and production of electronic systems linked to lighting. “This means that ZKW not only provides customers with specialist knowledge on high-quality headlights: the company is also a competent electronics provider, supplying complete LED systems which are high-performance and cost-efficient,” says Oliver Schubert, CEO of the ZKW Group.

Development of the ZKW site in Wiener Neustadt

The ZKW Electronics location in Wiener Neustadt has developed rapidly and is still undergoing further growth: after beginning with only 25 employees in 2012, the number of staff grew to 270 by the end of 2017. The space necessary to accommodate this growth was then created with the construction of a further office block. Alongside the new build, which comprises a total of four floors, 90 new parking spaces were also created.

“We are very pleased that construction has been successfully completed and that new work spaces have been created. The additional office building enables ZKW Electronics to allocate rooms for specific group functions, thus creating the perfect conditions for positive cooperation within a modern, functional and motivated working environment,” says Günther Krenn, CEO of ZKW Electronics. Helmut Miernicki, managing director at ecoplus, also voiced his approval of the expansion at the opening ceremony: “We are pleased that we at the Business Agency of Lower Austria have been able to do our bit for this important business expansion through our Investor Services and Wirtschaftsparks [specialist business parks]. However, it is important for me to emphasise that our employees offer advice and support to companies across Lower Austria that are undergoing set-up or expansion – this service is available both within and outside of our Wirtschaftsparks.
