developed \u201cstripeZ\u201d lighting module from ZKW Lichtsysteme GmbH in Wieselburg was awarded the German Design Award 2020 in the category \u201cAutomotive Parts &amp; Accessories\u201d. The decisive factor for the jury was the particularly compact design of the lighting element, which allows for new design options for the main headlamps and front end of the vehicle. The stripeZ module consists of an LED-based product family with low lens height and an integrated cooling element. Compared to conventional LED elements, the technology has significantly smaller dimensions with the same light performance. \u201cThe award is very important to us, as the topic of design is becoming increasingly important in automotive lighting and sensor systems. Car manufacturers have increasingly higher requirements with regards to appearance, which is why we have to develop trend-setting designs,\u201d according to Oliver Schubert, CEO of the ZKW Group.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-7c9ad38e elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"7c9ad38e\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>The Eye as a Role Model<br \/>\n<\/strong>The task of the team of designers was to use an LED module to turn the subject of light into the shape of an eye and thereby make it the center of attention. The stripeZ light module is already being used in the series production of headlamps for premium vehicles and was able to prevail as a staged eye against its competitors at the German Design Award. The stripeZ light module offers an exceptionally slim design, a consistent design language, and a multitude of design options. In addition, the technology also creates additional space in the headlamp housing due to the reduced space requirement, which can be used, for example, for the integration of sensors. \u201cThis aspect is particularly important for autonomous driving,\u201d says Schubert.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Full Lighting Power<br \/>\n<\/strong>Despite its compact design, stripeZ shines as brightly as larger LED light modules. Depending on the version, the optical lens is only 22 to 30 mm high and thus considerably smaller than conventional systems with a height of around 50 mm. stripeZ technology allows for various lighting functions (e.g. dipped or high beam) to be split into several modules. Depending on the desired appearance, one can choose whether all headlamps are to light up simultaneously or not. This creates an even wider range of design options for each headlamp.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About the German Design Award<br \/>\n<\/strong>The German Design Award honors innovative products and projects, as well as their manufacturers and designers who are pioneers in the German and international design landscape.
