Type Approval Engineer

Join our global Regulatory & Type Approval team and help ensure that ZKW products meet all international legal and type approval requirements. You will support development, project, and production teams by interpreting regulations, coordinating approvals, and guiding products through the full lifecycle from concept to series production.

Your responsibilities:

  • Support project teams so all regulatory and type approval requirements are considered from the early development phase.
  • Provide clear guidance to colleagues on regulations, technical requirements, and approval procedures.
  • Review RFQs and early concepts to identify feasibility issues or regulatory risks.
  • Coordinate product approvals with international authorities, customers, and test laboratories.
  • Prepare and review documentation for type approval tests and maintain certificates in internal databases.
  • Plan and track type approval activities within projects.
  • Translate customer requirements into legally compliant solutions.
  • Suggest CoP (Conformity of Production) test plans and support during authority audits.
  • Keep internal documents, templates, and SharePoint content updated.

Who are we looking for?

  • Completed technical education (High school, HTL, FH, university, or similar).
  • Very good English skills (daily communication).
  • Independent, structured, and proactive working style – you take ownership and move things forward.
  • Solid MS Office skills and general collaboration tools.
  • Good general understanding of physics, optics, and electronics.
  • Ability to work accurately with documents and technical requirements.
  • Enjoy teamwork in an international environment.

Advantages:

  • Experience in automotive industry.
  • Knowledge of common automotive light functions (Low Beam, High Beam, DRL, AFS, ADB, etc.).
  • Knowledge of applicable international regulations (UN-ECE, C/FMVSS108, CCC, …)
  • Experience in cooperation with authorities (KBA, RDW, VCA, TÜV…) and type approval processes.
  • Experience with AI
