Multi-million order for ZKW production site in Wieselburg
Order worth millions guarantees short- and medium-term economic future of the main plant – cost-saving measures show first successes
Following the strict cost-cutting programme, the Wieselburg-based automotive lighting specialist can now be pleased about an important order for the Wieselburg plant. A major order worth millions from a German car manufacturer secures the location in the short and medium term. In addition, the cost-cutting measures are showing the first signs of success. For example, the operating result could be exceeded in comparison to the 2022 period. The recipe for success lies, among other things, in optimised processes in production. This not only increased the number of units produced, but also reduced absenteeism. “Our company headquarters in Wieselburg is the hub for innovative lighting systems for premium brands. The goal is to achieve profitable and sustainable growth through concentration and focus,” explains Dr Wilhelm Steger, CEO of the ZKW Group.
Location secured
This major order is a necessary contribution to the restructuring plan and brings a breath of fresh air for a large part of the workforce in Wieselburg after the job cuts announced in spring. The cost-cutting programme will continue as planned with the reduction of 600 jobs (340 of them temporary workers) until the end of 2024. “We would like to express our special thanks to all employees who have remained loyal to us and who are counting on the future of the Wieselburg site. With the successful cost reduction programme and the major order, we see light at the end of the tunnel,” says site manager Andreas Nix.
Premium strategy for Wieselburg
ZKW in Wieselburg continues to be the nucleus of innovation as well as the development and production of premium lighting systems for renowned automotive manufacturers. The new strategic orientation for the headquarters is based on four pillars, namely a focus on premium products, lighting systems for trucks and buses, a strengthened after-sales area and the development and production of innovative lighting modules. “The cost reduction programme was a difficult but also important step for ZKW, demonstrating its commitment to sustainable growth in the face of challenging market conditions. We are already seeing the improvement in the company’s results and can contribute to maintaining ZKW’s innovative strength in the long term,” says Dr Wilhelm Steger.
