Where demands increase, we respond with new solutions. ZKW uses the latest technologies worldwide to maintain the quality standards that demand the utmost from all participants and components.
At ZKW, most components are produced using injection molding technology, largely in fully automated production. Optically critical components such as reflectors and lenses are manufactured under special conditions. Our functional and quality tests are second to none, because our claim and mission is to provide light and safety, and because all our products are designed to increase the competitiveness of our customers.
For us, the basic building blocks for success are stable, robust processes that generate our products “just in time”. The application of the lean approach results in the implementation of the zero-defect principle with simultaneous efficiency gains.
For some years now, ZKW has also been manufacturing electronic components such as printed circuit boards with high-precision LEDs and complete light engines. Specially developed manufacturing processes meet the high lighting technology requirements of our high-end products. State-of-the-art SMT equipment and highly automated assembly systems for light engines at the ZKW Lichtsysteme GmbH site in Wiener Neustadt, as well as overall expertise in the fields of electronics, lighting technology and mechanics, make the difference here.

In addition, we rely on our continuous improvement process (CIP), which ensures appropriate, optimized procedures at process level and the use of mature, robust technologies at product level.

Autonomous driving and the importance of the right light
City center, a busy street. A pedestrian wants to cross the road, and tries to make eye contact with the driver. But there’s no one behind the wheel. The passengers are sitting comfortably in the back seat. Nevertheless, the communication works. The fully automated vehicle recognizes the pedestrian, brakes independently, and projects a virtual crosswalk on the asphalt. That means the person can cross the lit street safely, after which the vehicle can go on its way.
