The all-new Range Rover illuminates the road with a new type of lighting system from ZKW. The “Digital Light Processing” LED headlights not only produce stepless, glare-free high beams that automatically block out oncoming or other road users. The smart, digital front lighting also enables animated images to be projected onto the road. In addition to the “Digital Light Processing” modules, stripeZ light modules are also offered, which are significantly smaller than conventional LED headlights – with the same performance. This enables a particularly slim design as well as a wide range of new functional options. “The digital headlights on the new Range Rover reflect our current developments and technologies. Intelligent lighting systems increase comfort, enhance road safety and mark the way towards autonomous driving,” explains Oliver Schubert, CEO of the ZKW Group.

CarVisionLight: ZKW Researches Autonomous Light Technology with Partners

As part of the “CarVisionLight” research project, ZKW is working with the Vienna University of Technology and software specialist emotion3D to develop intelligent light technology solutions. The project focuses on automatic image capturing and processing in traffic and adaptive lighting systems. The objective of this industrial research is to create lighting systems that “think with you,” and that can approach or even exceed the capabilities of human perception. CarVisionLight is funded by the Federal Ministry of Climate Protection, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology, and is part of the ZKW technology program for sensor integration. The program also includes the “Dragonfly” project, which integrates sensors and cameras in headlamps to facilitate automated driving functions. “With CarVisionLight, we are combining our expertise with our partners to develop lighting systems for the next generation of cars” says Oliver Schubert, CEO of the ZKW Group.

ZKW equips new all-electric Volvo C40 with high-tech lights

The new Volvo C40 relies on LED lighting technology from Wieselburg-based automotive specialist ZKW. The headlight of the all-electric electric crossover has a pixel module with 84 individually controllable LEDs. The high-tech light illuminates the road particularly efficiently, adapts dynamically to traffic and avoids dazzling other road users. A front camera and radar permanently scan the road, allowing up to five vehicles to be blanked simultaneously. The design of the high-quality pixel LED light is unique: the hammer-shaped light arc sets visual accents that are distinctive for Volvo. “For Volvo, we develop distinctive headlight designs that impress with their innovative technology and memorable appearance and increase road safety,” explains Dr. Wilhelm Steger, CEO of the ZKW Group.

CES 2024: ZKW and LG present vehicle lighting systems of the future

At this year’s Consumer Electronics Show, which takes place from January 9-13 in Las Vegas, ZKW and LG will be showcasing their innovations in the areas of intelligent vehicle lighting and infotainment. The highlight is the LG concept car, which is equipped with high-resolution microZ-LED headlights from ZKW. This should make cinema-like “drive-in theater” projections possible in the future. ZKW will also be presenting the latest innovations such as the intelligent “Illuminated Panel” and an illuminated bumper (together with Rehau), animated rear lights, sustainable headlights as well as the new headlight for the Volvo EX90 with the moving “Thorhammer” and GM Chevy Silverado headlights for the important American vehicle market. “With our locations in Silao/Mexico and Troy/Michigan, we offer customers in the USMCA economic area innovative lighting systems that can interact with other road users and increase driving safety,” explains Wilhelm Steger, CEO of the ZKW Group.
